The complex landscape of Virunga, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands out for its exceptional biodiversity. Also known for being home to some 300 mountain gorillas (a third of those left on the planet), this territory has suffered significantly due to 20 years of intense armed conflict.



This cocoa illustrates the importance of soil, climate and growing techniques to achieve complex flavors such as hints of wild cherries and black tea. The name Forastero refers to the fact that cocoa originates from South America and was imported to Africa, although the original name of this variety is Amelonado, if we refer to the South American roots of this cocoa.
